Apple Approves SaruTobi App for iOS, Introducing Exciting Cryptocurrency Features

Apple has sanctioned the return of *SaruTobi* to the App Store, offering integrated Bitcoin Lightning payments for in-game purchases. Developed by Christian Moss and published by MandelDuck, the game now allows players to utilize ZBD-powered Lightning Network payments to buy power-ups or retries, while also earning small rewards referred to as “sats” through gameplay. This version of *SaruTobi* is notable for being the first fully native integration of Lightning payments within an iOS game, enabling players to execute Bitcoin transactions entirely within the app. The Lightning Network enhances the Bitcoin blockchain by facilitating quicker and more affordable transactions, as ZBD’s system processes payments off the main blockchain to alleviate costs and delays.

Apple’s App Store guidelines permit certain cryptocurrency functionalities. Specifically, Section 3.1.5 allows applications to support crypto transfers provided they leverage approved services and do not sell cryptocurrency via in-app purchases. Developers like ZBD can integrate external payment providers for off-platform payouts, allowing players to spend small amounts of Bitcoin for in-game enhancements while maintaining a seamless app experience. While *SaruTobi* has a storied history on iOS, originally launched in 2013 with early Bitcoin features before being removed, this latest approval marks a significant milestone.

Other games like *Bitcoin Bounce* have also incorporated Bitcoin rewards using Lightning or external wallets, but the key innovation with *SaruTobi* is the direct integration of Lightning payments within the game, allowing transactions without external redirects. Overall, this development signals continued opportunities for mobile gaming and Bitcoin. While Apple maintains restrictions on direct cryptocurrency sales through its own payment platform, it allows approved services to facilitate crypto rewards. This opens avenues for developers to create games that provide small Bitcoin payouts and utilize Lightning payments for additional content, adhering to Apple’s guidelines.

With reviews praising *SaruTobi* for its engaging gameplay combined with the novelty of earning Bitcoin, it offers a fun, casual experience for players interested in microtransactions.
