Apple has recently expanded the functionality of its iCloud Passwords for Windows app by officially adding support for the Firefox web browser. This update enables PC users to seamlessly access and autofill their credentials directly within Mozilla’s browser.
Initially launched with iOS 18, Apple Passwords serves as a centralized location for iCloud Keychain items, which were previously only accessible through the Settings app. The service has since been adapted for various operating systems, ensuring users can conveniently manage their logins, passkeys, and other credentials across different platforms.
As of Wednesday, Firefox for Windows users can take advantage of in-app iCloud password management following an update to the iCloud Passwords extension. It’s worth noting that since December 2024, this feature has been available for the Mac version of Firefox, as well as for Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge browsers on Windows.
However, there is a limitation: reports from Reddit users indicate that the iCloud password autofill feature is compatible only with Windows 11, leaving Windows 10 users without this capability for now. The iCloud for Windows app initially gained iCloud Keychain compatibility in August 2021 and has undergone various updates over the years to enhance its functionality.
To utilize the iCloud password features in Firefox on Windows, users must have both the iCloud for Windows app and the specific iCloud Passwords extension installed in the browser. In addition to managing passwords, the iCloud for Windows app permits users to access a range of information stored on Apple’s cloud platform, including photos, videos, emails, and calendar entries.
Overall, this tool facilitates easier management of iCloud Keychain passwords and enables autofill in supported web browsers.
