Apple has recently released the third developer beta of tvOS 26, a day after introducing similar updates for its other operating systems. This release reflects Apple’s tendency to group the rollout of new builds for its operating systems, particularly during the testing phases.
Notably, tvOS 26 experienced a delay in comparison to its counterparts in the “26” generation. On July 7, Apple launched the third developer betas for iOS 26, iPadOS 26, macOS Tahoe 26, watchOS 26, and visionOS 26, marking the absence of the tvOS update.
This gap was rectified on July 8 when the third developer beta of tvOS 26 was finally made available. The latest version, tvOS 26 beta 3, is identified by build number 23J5306g, succeeding build 23J5295e.
While tvOS updates typically feature fewer changes than other operating systems, this release includes notable enhancements. Users can expect improvements such as the Liquid Glass user interface, karaoke functionality based on the iPhone, and new Aerial screensavers, among other adjustments.
AppleInsider advises caution when it comes to installing any test operating systems or beta software on essential or primary devices. Early beta versions often come with a heightened risk of significant issues that could jeopardize data integrity.
It is recommended that testers utilize secondary or non-essential hardware and maintain regular backups of critical information. For those eager to explore the new features in the upcoming generation, it is advisable to wait for the initial public betas, as they present a much lower risk to personal data.
