iOS 26 significantly enhances creative work with advanced on-device tools that empower users to generate unique images, adjust writing tone, and organize thoughts seamlessly. With a renewed focus on creativity, Apple has expanded existing features to offer more power, flexibility, and practicality for users working on an iPhone.
This updated version allows users to sketch characters, rewrite stories, and organize their ideas without interruptions. One of the standout features is the Image Playground, which was first introduced in iOS 18.2.
Integrated into apps like Messages and Notes, it allows users to create images quickly using short prompts. iOS 26 adds new visual styles powered by ChatGPT, streamlining the process of designing mockups and concept art.
Users can generate images directly within their conversations or notes, ensuring privacy since all data is processed on-device. This feature is compatible with the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and all iPhone 16 models.
Another highlight is Genmoji, which reappears in iOS 26 with improved creative capabilities. Users can combine text prompts, emojis, and stickers to craft personalized designs, organized by themes like Expressions and Costumes.
The custom emoji can easily be used in Messages, offering unique reactions or character expressions. Writing Tools have also expanded, now accessible in various apps such as Notes and Mail.
This update includes the opening of Apple Intelligence APIs for third-party developers, meaning more apps could soon support the features for rewriting, tone adjustment, and summarization, enhancing creative writing processes. In the Photos app, the layout has been updated, featuring two main tabs for easier organization.
Users can also create depth-enhanced images using new spatial scene options. The Journal app now offers categories and a map view to give context to entries, enriching the writing experience without needing Apple Intelligence.
All these features require specific devices, primarily the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 models running iOS 26. The public beta of iOS 26 is expected to launch in July, followed by the final release in fall 2025.
